Gem Acabal
Gem Stacy Acabal is a lifelong singer, pianist, and passionate advocate for arts
education. With 6 years of vocal coaching under her belt, she adores every step of
cultivating musicians in a classroom, group, and private setting. Ms. Gem teaches a
wide variety of vocal genres, including classical, pop, musical theatre, country, and jazz.
For pianists, she ensures students have a well-rounded piano foundation while having fun
along the way. Her favorite parts about teaching are learning more about her students,
witnessing them bloom, and watching the positive impact that music has on a student’s
life. Ms. Gem’s teaching philosophy follows a quote from Kevin Durant: "Hard work
beats talent when talent fails to work hard."
Ms. Gem is a graduate of California State University of Long Beach (CSULB), and
completed her B.M. in Voice Performance and B.M. in Choral Education.
Previously, Ms. Gem sang with the refined Chamber Choir at Bob Cole Conservatory of
Music (BCCM) and led as president of the American Choral Director’s Association
student chapter at CSULB. Additionally, she performed with the Opera Institute at
BCCM. Her captivating voice has been featured in the short film Monarch Beach and in
the Hulu Documentary Anthem. Ms. Gem has performed in Verona, Italy, with Opera
Viva and in Irvine, California, with Lyric Opera OC.
Currently, Ms. Gem is in a Masters program for Nursing at Westcliff University. Her
